2000

2000 was an election year, a good time to point out how corrupted the US government is by money; how the influence of large financial interests far outweighs that of citizens. Ten years later, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting expenditures for political campaigns by corporations. 2000 was also the year the U.S. Supreme Court stopped a recount in Florida, handing the presidential election to George W. Bush.
